Dan and I like to get out a lot, but now that we have kids the dynamics of going out have changed a bit. We actually have to plan family outings a little bit now! On July 4th, Dan and I had a rare Saturday off, so we drove the kids to Gilroy to visit Gilroy Gardens!
Gilroy Gardens is California's only Horticulture Theme Park, and it's one of the most entertaining "kid friendly" parks that I've been to in a while. There were even exhibits that adults could appreciate - there was a little bit of something for everyone! James had a fun time going on the little rides. He went on his first theme park ride
by himself! I guess taking him on that
Magic Mountain trip a few months ago whet his appetite for adventure!!
Grace enjoyed the park from the safety of her stroller. There were a lot of waterfalls and plants for her to admire. She even stayed awake for the Rocca Market Vegetable Show! Too bad Dan, James, and I all got a little bored listening to singing fruits. Besides, that "Ice Box Man" freaked me out!!!
If you enjoy looking at gardens and plants, this park has a lot of lovely gardens and also is the home to the famous
Circus Trees. No other figure today, or in known history, went so far in demonstrating the potential trees have to offer to the art of arborsculpture. With only a fourth grade education and a strong will to teach himself, Axel Erlandson's work set the bar for all arborsculptors. These trees are absolutely amazing...
We had so much fun that James can't wait to go on our next family outing! Up next...we'll see!
