Like Dan and me, Ace was working hard during the Halloween Season - it's tough being a "show dog"! In the period of 5 days, Dan Ace and I had 20 shows - with two days having 5 shows each day! You can only imagine how swollen my hands and feet were those days - I didn't want to remember so I didn't take any photos! ;)
Ace, however, had a grand old time...all the little kiddies loved him, he got lots of treats for his tricks, and he got to ride in the car...what more can a dog ask for?
Grand Grand GRAND day has come! Dan and I finally (FINALLY!) found a sofa we both liked - in fact, it's so good, we found a sofa AND a love seat! Glee!
I can finally watch tv from an actual sofa again! *sigh* Dan and Ace christened the sofa last night while watching a juggling video - well, Dan watched it at least...
It's been a while since I've last blogged on Vox - and for all good reasons, I swear!! While I'm hoping to update more frequently now that I have an actual table to write at, I can honestly tell you all that it's a toss-up as of now...
First off, I'm pleased to announce that Dan and I are celebrating our First Wedding Anniversary this month! Married life has been everything we've expected, and much more! Since we've been married, Dan and I have traveled the world, seen many sites and shows, and enjoyed all the trials and tribulations of married life together. In the past month, I've even changed my name (FINALLY!!! Waiting to change the name is the one drawback of traveling so much!) so we're *officially* the Chan Family. While we have had our share of disagreements (what marriage doesn't?), being able to share life with someone you love certainly makes life exciting! God has truly blessed our marriage.
Another
exciting bit of news is that we've moved! While we enjoyed our apartment immensely, we were presented
the opportunity to rent a spacious 4 bedroom house, so we packed up our bags and went! After about 2 weeks of moving (using only our cars and a van) we are now completely moved in and finally invested in
dining room table complete with chairs (it's so nice to not eat picnic style anymore!!!). We're still working on the
sofa...one of these days... Dan has even gone as far
as to plant several fruit trees in the backyard (including two fig
trees, a cherry tree, an avocado tree, and two blueberry bushes), while
I've got a small vegetable garden (with peas, okra, tomatoes,
strawberries, and beans). We're definitely going stay here for a while!
As you all already know, we also got a dog on May 5th - our little Ace is still quite a handful, but has been bringing us both so much joy.
Now since we decided we were happily married, living in a wonderful
house with a dog playing in the yard, that we figured we might as well
complete the full picture...and we're not talking about a white picket
fence!
Dan and I are excited to announce that we're expecting our first child in December, 2007!
Dan and I found out about our little surprise shortly after we put down a deposit on Ace in March, and were thrilled to find out that our family would be complete! Our doctor tells us to expect the baby on December 8th...what a wonderful Christmas this will be! We're planning on finding out whether it's a boy or girl near the end of the July - once we do, we're going to have to start seriously thinking about names and room schemes and blah blah blah blah blah. You all will be hearing about the baby A LOT in the coming weeks, so don't be too surprised now. Amazingly, that was the main reason I couldn't bring myself to blog a lot - I was afraid I might spill the beans too early!!!
So that's the big update! Hope all you Voxers are well!
It's been a while since I've seriously blogged last - but I've had my hands full! This past Saturday, we finally picked up the newest addition to our little family - the much awaited Papillon Puppy, Johnny Ace Pawer!
The breeder, Rebecca (owner of Hitch Hiking Horses) met us in Carmichael before one of our library shows (which oddly enough was accidently double booked - the other performer won out because he had a flier...ah well).
Ace has been behaving great and has even learned a few commands including "kennel", "sit" and "jump up!". We're hoping that he'll solidly learn a good batch of tricks before the summer (even if he doesn't perform them perfectly - we're just looking at getting him some stage experience!) We'll see how that goes...
Dan and I drove up 3 hours to Red Bluff yesterday and we finally did it - we put down a deposit on puppy #1! Mr Pick of the Litter himself - soon to be called "Mr. Magic Johnny Ace Pawer" (or Ace for short). Isn't he the cutest little pill?
